EC to announce election roadmap by July

The Election Commission, EC, will announce a roadmap for the next general election by July targeting December to hold the polls, said Election Commissioner Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar.

The commission will include those who will complete 18 years before the announcement of election schedule to the voter list and for this, they are taking initiative to amend the existing law, he told the reporters at Nirbachan Bhaban on Wednesday, April 16.

About view-exchange with political parties, EC Anwarul stated it may take place in July or August and they will also hold dialogue with those involved in election process, and law enforcement agencies.

When he was asked whether election is possible in current law and order situation, he said they visited several districts where the law enforcers informed them that the law and order situation are improving day by day, and the Election Commission will take all the steps to hold a fair election.
