Yunus invites BNP again for talks on June 2

Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has once again invited the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to the State Guest House Jamuna on June 2 for discussions, according to BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed.

Speaking at a Krishak Dal discussion in the capital on Saturday afternoon, Salahuddin criticised those opposing early elections, alleging they are labelling BNP leaders as “traitors and foreign agents” to create division.

“A group is repaying 17 years of our sacrifice with accusations and fascism,” he said.

He noted that while the Chief Adviser’s invitation for talks is a formality, the BNP doubts its substance. “The name of reform is being used as a pretext. The people demand elections before December, and there’s no reason to delay,” Salahuddin said.

He demanded that the government provide a clear rationale if elections are to be held after December.
