EC unveils polls roadmap; schedule in December

The Election Commission (EC) has announced the roadmap for the 13th parliamentary elections, focusing 24 key activities, including demarcation of constituency, voter list finalisation, and registeration of political parties with the commission.

EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed made the announcement at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka’s Agargaon on Thursday, August 28.

According to the roadmap, the next general election will be held in the first half of February next year and the polls shedule would be unveiled in December.

"We have divided the action plan for the next national elections into 24 segments where one task is related to another and one of these is holding dialogue with the stakeholders," EC Secretary Akhtar said.

"Now, we will publish three voter lists, and of these, make a list of those who aged 18 years," he said.
