12 activists of banned AL held in Dhaka

The police arrested 12 leaders and activists of banned Awami League and its associate bodies while preparing for sudden procession in Dhaka's Banglamotor and Gulshan areas on Friday afternoon, September 12.

The arrestees were identified as Md Main Uddin, 36, Billal Hossain, 38, Md Rabby, 21, Md Sohel Hasan Rafi, 21, Arif, 21, Nadim, 19, Md Shukkur Hawlalar, 25, Shihab Munshi, 25, Md Jewel, 30, Saddam Molla, 27, Md Rana, 19, and Md Najmul, 19.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) apprehended them in separate drives in Banglamotor and Gulshan areas between 3:00pm to 4:00pm, said Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of DMP's media and public relations division, this evening.

The arrestees were planning to create panic among the people and destabilise the law and order situation by sudden processions in various parts of the capital, he added.
