Jamaat demands ban on Jatiya Party, 14-party alliance
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded the banning of the Jatiya Party and the 14-party alliance, accusing them of being allies of the ruling Awami League.
The demand was made at a press conference on Monday (15 September) at Al-Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar, Dhaka, where the party also presented four additional demands.
Speaking at the event, the party’s Nayeb-e-Amir, Dr Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, said that, based on the July National Charter, a five-point people’s demand has been announced with the aim of ensuring a free, fair, and credible election next February and establishing Bangladesh as a just and accountable democratic state.
These demands include holding elections next February based on the July National Charter, implementing the proportional representation system in both houses of parliament, ensuring a level playing field for all, making visible the trial of all atrocities, genocides, and corruption by the fascist government, and banning the activities of the Jatiya Party and the 14-Party Alliance, whom they accuse of being allies of autocracy.
