Tofail Ahmed, a member of the Awami League’s Advisory Council and former Member of Parliament from Bhola-1 constituency, who has been ailing for a long time, is still alive. Doctors have not made any official announcement regarding his condition.

Tofail’s son-in-law, Dr. Touhiduzzaman Tuhin of Square Hospital, told Jago News on Sunday that his condition is extremely serious and critical.

“His condition is deteriorating. Doctors have not announced anything yet. He is still alive, and his heart is functioning. However, given the critical state he is in, it is unlikely he can recover,” he said.

Dr. Tuhin added that Tofail Ahmed is still on life support.

Earlier, on Saturday night, several media outlets, including Jago News, reported Tofail Ahmed’s death while he was receiving treatment at a hospital in Dhaka. At that time, Salauddin, personal assistant to Tofail Ahmed’s nephew and former MP Ali Azam Mukul, confirmed the death news to Jago News.

For the past few years, Tofail Ahmed had been using a wheelchair, as part of his body was paralysed due to a stroke. He was under regular supervision of doctors. Ten days ago, he was admitted to the hospital with a fever, and as his condition worsened, he was placed on life support.

Jago News has expressed sorrow over the report of Tofail Ahmed’s death.
