AL organising secretary Mozammel arrested

The police arrested Awami League's organising secretary and former lawmaker BM Mozammel Haque in Dhaka on Sunday, October 5.

A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) apprehended him in an operation in the capital's Niketan area, said DMP deputy commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

On information that the leaders and activists of the Awami League, which activities are now banned, were trying to commit subversive acts in the city, the law enforcers carried out the drive, Talebur said.

Mozammel, a former MP from Shariatpur-1 (Sadar and Zajira) is accused in several cases and he would be sent to the court, the official added.
