Teacher killed as assailants attack BNP leader’s party office

Armed assailants attacked the office of a local BNP leader near the IT Gate of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) with gunfire and bombs, leaving one teacher dead.

The incident took place on Sunday night (2 November). Imdadul Haque, a teacher, was killed in the attack, while Mamun Sheikh (45), organising secretary of Jogipal Union BNP and a Union Parishad member, and Mizanur Rahman were injured.

According to police and local sources, BNP leader Mamun Sheikh was sitting with local party members in the office when the attackers suddenly threw two bombs and fired four rounds of bullets before fleeing. Party activists and relatives immediately took the injured Mamun to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Tuhinuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Khanjahan Ali Police Station, said that the attackers targeted Mamun Sheikh’s office with bomb explosions and gunfire. Both Mamun and Imdadul Haque were taken to the hospital, where doctors on duty declared Imdadul dead.
