Asif Mahmud to become voter in Dhaka-10 constituency
Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, is becoming a voter in the Dhaka-10 parliamentary constituency.
The former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement will visit the Dhanmondi Thana Election Office on Sunday afternoon to apply for voter registration in the constituency. The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Public Relations Department of the ministry on Sunday.
The Dhaka-10 constituency comprises Dhanmondi, New Market, Kalabagan, and Hazaribagh thanas. The BNP has yet to announce its candidate for this seat, while Jamaat-e-Islami has already nominated Supreme Court lawyer Jasim Uddin Sarkar.
Previously, Asif Mahmud was a voter in the Cumilla-3 constituency, which covers the Muradnagar upazila. There had been discussions that he might contest the election from that constituency. Recently, speculation has arisen that he may resign from his advisory post to contest the upcoming national election for Dhaka-10 if a seat-sharing arrangement is reached with the BNP. The speculation has intensified as the BNP has not yet named its candidate for the constituency.
