Don’t test patience of July revolutionaries, Shafiqul warns AL

Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, warned the Bangladesh Awami League, whose activities remain banned, not to test the patience of the July revolutionaries, and reminded that it is not October 28, 2006, but July — forever.

His warning comes as the Awami League announced on its Facebook page that it will observe a lockdown programme in Dhaka on November 13.

“The BAL, its enablers and their mass-murderer leader seem to think this is October 28, 2006 all over again. They imagine sending a mob of tens of thousands of thugs into central Dhaka to seize the streets after slaughtering a dozen people in broad daylight. Sorry — this is a New Bangladesh,” Shafiqul Alam wrote on his Facebook account at 9:27 am on Monday.

He added, “Any attempt by banned political or terrorist outfits to hold protests will be met with the full force of the law. Don’t test the patience of the July revolutionaries. And remember: it is not October 28, 2006. It is July — forever.”
