Khaleda under care of local and foreign doctors: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that both local and foreign doctors are involved in providing medical care to the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists on Monday morning (1 December) at a programme marking the joining of Dr Reza Kibria at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
“You already know that Madam is unwell. Our doctors are working and trying their utmost. Her treatment is being carried out with the involvement of both local and foreign doctors,” he said.
He added, “We, along with the entire nation, continue to pray to Almighty Allah to grant her a full recovery and bring her back to us in good health.”
Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital since November 23. Following medical examinations, doctors detected a lung infection, and BNP later reported that her condition had become critical. Since Thursday (November 27), she has been receiving intensive care in the hospital’s Critical Care Unit (CCU).
Her treatment is being overseen by a medical board headed by Evercare Hospital specialist Prof Shahabuddin Talukder, comprised of both local and foreign physicians.
The board also includes Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of Tarique Rahman, as well as doctors from Johns Hopkins University in the United States and the London Clinic in the United Kingdom.
From London, her elder son Tarique Rahman has been maintaining constant communication with the medical board and coordinating with both local and foreign doctors.
