The National Citizen Party (NCP), Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), and Rashtra Sanskar Andolan have launched a new political alliance, the Ganatantraik Sangskar Jote.

The three parties came up with the announcement of the platform at a press conference held at the Dhaka Reporters Unity pledging to uphold the spirit of the July 2024 student-led uprising and establish a “new political settlement” in Bangladesh.

NCP convener Nahid Islam, a prominent figure in last year’s anti-government protests, announced the formation of the coalition.

AB Party chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju declared Nahid Islam as the official spokesperson for the new alliance during the event.

Among those present on the dais were Rashtra Sanskar Andolan president Hasnat Qayyum, NCP member secretary Akhtar Hossain, chief organiser (northern region) Sarjis Alam, and joint member secretary SM Saif Mostafiz.

The three parties described the alliance as a direct continuation of the “July uprising” – the popular term for the mass movement that forced the resignation and flight of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina in August 2024 – and vowed to push for sweeping state reforms.
