The Election Commission (EC) has decided to extend the time for casting votes by an hour for the upcoming 13th parliamentary election, with balloting starting from 7:00 am.

Generally, voting hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. This time, the balloting will commence at 7:30 am and end at 4:30 pm.

Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah shared this information after the 10th meeting of the Election Commission on Sunday, December 7.

“We have decided to extend the time for voting by an hour. Now, the balloting will begin at 7:30 am and continue to 4:30 pm,” he said.

About the deployment of the law enforcers, he said that the Commission will issue a circular in this regard within this week, and based on this, the Ministry of Home Affairs will make a detailed work plan.

Deployment of forces will depend on the scenario and reality of the polling centres, Sanaullah said. “We will do whatever is required where.”

Besides, a central monitoring cell will be set up at the Election Commission, and all force members and representatives from firms concerned will be there, he stated.
