A youth was killed in a factional clash between BNP leaders and activists in Mirsharai, Chattogram. The deceased, Gazi Tahmid Khan, 25, son of Md Alamgir from Ward No. 3 of Baraiyarhat Municipality, died while undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Wednesday midnight.

According to local sources, on Wednesday afternoon, Zubayer, a leader of the Hinguli Union unit of Swechhasebak Dal, was sitting with his feet raised in a shop at Baraiyarhat municipal market. When he saw Nazrul Islam Liton, former joint convenor of Baraiyarhat BNP, he did not lower his feet. Liton allegedly kicked Zubayer, triggering an argument between the two.

Later, supporters from both sides, from Jamalpur and Hinguli areas, gathered, resulting in a clash that left 8–10 people injured, including Tahmid, Raihan, Mohon Dey, Abir, and Mojammel. The injured were taken to different hospitals for treatment.

Tahmid was initially taken to Baraiyarhat Medical Centre and later transferred to the Upazila Health Complex. As his condition worsened, he was moved to CMCH, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officer-in-Charge of Jorarganj Police Station, Kazi Nazmul Haque, said the incident occurred due to a clash between two factions of the same BNP group over a junior-senior dispute. Tahmid was killed in the clash. His body is at CMCH and will be handed over to his family after an autopsy. No case has been filed in connection with the incident.
