BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country very soon, said the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, urging party leaders and activists to prepare for that day.

Addressing party members, he said, “The day our leader returns, the day he sets foot in the country, the whole of Bangladesh should shake. You must keep this in mind. Will you be able to do that? InshaAllah, we want to change the face of the entire country on that day.”

He made the remarks on Thursday (11 December) morning at an event organised by the BNP at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in Dhaka’s Farmgate.

More than a thousand leaders from BNP’s divisional organisational units joined the programme titled “Plan to Build the Country,” arranged to mark the Victory Month of December.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “We want to move forward to implement our leader’s (Tarique Rahman’s) vision and ideas to establish Bangladesh in a position of dignity.”

Commenting that the BNP must secure a complete victory in the upcoming national elections, he said, “Many obstacles will come. Propaganda against BNP is ongoing and will continue. We must overcome everything and stand tall.”

He added, “BNP has never been defeated and will never be defeated. BNP is the party of the people of this country, the party of the Liberation War. BNP’s success will come from ironclad unity and nationalist ideology—nothing else will bring success.”

The BNP secretary general noted that the schedule for the national election will be announced today. “This election brings an opportunity to create new leadership for a new Bangladesh. It brings an opportunity to form a representative parliament with the people, which will take Bangladesh toward a new horizon. Tarique Rahman will lead this journey,” he said.
