Inqilab Mancha urges all to avoid violence

Inqilab Mancha, the political platform of the late Sharif Osman Hadi, urged people to refrain from any form of violence following reports of protests and vandalism across the country after his death.

The appeal was issued via Inqilab Mancha’s official Facebook page and Hadi’s personal page in the early hours of Friday, December 19.

The post said, “Sharif Osman Hadi sought justice even from his adversaries and pursued intellectual struggle. He devoted his life to protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty. We urge everyone to remain vigilant so that no one exploits this tragedy and the nation’s sovereignty is not endangered. Be cautious of those attempting to benefit from this incident. The country must not be destabilized in any way.”

The organisation had previously announced that any further programmes or initiatives following Hadi’s death would be communicated exclusively through its official Facebook page.

Hadi, a prominent figure of the July Uprising, passed away on Thursday night, December 18, while receiving treatment at Singapore General Hospital.

Hadi was critically injured when two assailants opened fire on him while traveling on a rickshaw near the Box Culvert Road in Dhaka's Bijoynagar area.

Two individuals on a motorcycle approached his rickshaw, and one of them shot him from close range before fleeing the scene.
