Asif Mahmud collects nomination paper for Dhaka-10
Former adviser to the interim government Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan has collected a nomination paper for the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections from the Dhaka-10 constituency.
He collected the nomination paper from the Dhanmondi Thana Election Office at 11:40am on Monday (December 22).
The Dhaka-10 constituency comprises New Market, Hazaribagh, Kalabagan and Dhanmondi thanas.
Earlier, on December 12, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan announced in a video message on social media platform Facebook that he would contest the national elections as an independent candidate from Dhaka-10.
Prior to this, Asif Mahmud resigned from the advisory council on the evening of December 10. He had served as an adviser in the interim government as a representative of the students who led the July mass uprising.
During his tenure, he was responsible for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, as well as the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Asif Mahmud was appointed as an adviser at the very beginning of the formation of the interim government. Initially, he was assigned to the Ministries of Labour and Employment and Youth and Sports. Later, the Labour and Employment portfolio was withdrawn, and he was given responsibility for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
