Protesters blocked Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka on Friday afternoon, December 26, demanding a fair investigation into the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi, swift arrests of those involved in the killing, and exemplary punishment for them.

Inqilab Mancha activists, students, and ordinary people gathered at Shahbagh intersection with a procession from Dhaka University Central Mosque after Jumma prayers. The gathering is growing gradually.

Protesters were chanting various slogans seeking justice for Osman Hadi's killing.

"We took to the streets to take revenge for the martyrs. We will not leave this place until advisers of the government come here and stand before people," vowed Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Mancha.

Earlier on Thursday, December 25, Inqilab Mancha announced nationwide prayers and protest marches for today, demanding justice for Osman Hadi's murder.

Sharif Osman bin Hadi, a prominent figure of the July Mass Uprising last year, was shot in the head on December 12 while travelling on a rickshaw on Culvert Road in the capital's Bijoynagar area after Jumma prayers.

He initially underwent surgery at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and was later admitted to Evercare Hospital.

For advanced treatment, he was airlifted to Singapore, where he succumbed to his injuries on the night of December 18.
