The Krishak Sramik Janata League, led by Bangabir Abdul Kader Siddique, has announced that it will not participate in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections. The party’s Acting General Secretary, Shafiqul Islam Delwar, confirmed the decision in a press release on Saturday (27 December) afternoon.

The press release stated, “The Krishak Sramik Janata League was founded with the expectation of free, fair, and participatory elections. It is a democratic party committed to electoral participation. However, in a situation where genuine free and fair elections require full participation, many are still being excluded from the process. Under such circumstances, a free, fair, peaceful, and participatory election cannot be expected. Moreover, there is little enthusiasm or excitement among the general public. Therefore, the Krishak Sramik Janata League will not take part in the so-called 13th national parliamentary elections.”

It further noted, “Due to repeated mismanagement in the past three parliamentary elections, the people of the country became frustrated, leading to the July 24 uprising that resulted in the fall of the previous government. The expectation of the entire nation is for a free, fair, and participatory election. Yet, the interim government has so far failed to create an inclusive electoral environment. On the contrary, the country is now in a worse state than during the previous government.”

The press release also mentioned that during the party’s founding anniversary and special extended meeting on 24 December, it was decided to stay out of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections.
