Asif Mahmud to join NCP
Former adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan is reportedly going to join the National Citizen Party (NCP). An announcement in this regard may be made on Monday, December 29, evening.
A top NCP leader said that he may be given the responsibility of spokesperson in the party.
Asif Mahmud resigned from the post of advisor to the interim government to participate in the upcoming elections. However, it is reported that he is not participating in the elections in the end.
The NCP leader told BBC Bangla that the main reason for the emergency press conference called by the NCP at its party office this evening is on the occasion of Asif Mahmud joining the party.
The NCP source said that even though he cannot participate in the elections for the time being, he will serve as the NCP spokesperson.
An emergency press conference was announced by the NCP in the afternoon. It was informed that NCP convener Nahid Islam will be present at the press conference.
Earlier, Asif Mahmud had also collected nomination papers to contest the election from Dhaka-10. At the same time, his supporters had also collected nominations from Comilla-3 constituency. However, till Monday evening, information about his submission of nomination papers was not known in either of them.
