Tk 16 lakh cash, no house: Jara’s little fortune meets big political ambitions
Tasnim Jara, the recently resigned National Citizens Party (NCP) leader and independent candidate for Dhaka-9, has stirred interest with her Election Commission affidavit, revealing assets of just over Tk 19 lakh with no house, flat, or agricultural land in her name.
According to the affidavit filed with the returning officer, Jara holds Tk 16 lakh in cash, while her total declared assets amount to Tk 19,13,509.
Her annual income stands at Tk 7,13,597, with Tk 34,057 paid in income tax.
There are no loans, liabilities, pending cases, or government dues.
Despite lacking property, her declared movable assets include jewellery worth Tk 2.5 lakh, Tk 10,019 in a bank account, and 2,270 British pounds.
Her husband, Khaled Saifullah, an entrepreneur and researcher, holds Tk 15 lakh in cash and 6,000 pounds.
Jara, a doctor by profession, earns Tk 7,13,333 annually and has reported overseas income of 3,200 pounds, while her husband earns 39,800 pounds abroad.
The affidavit paints a picture of a young, urban politician focused on cash liquidity over property holdings.
Born on October 7, 1994, and holding an MSc degree following MBBS, Jara is the daughter of Fakhrul Hasan and Amena Akhter Dewan and resides in Khilgaon Chowdhury Para, Dhaka.
Her disclosure comes after her resignation from the NCP over ideological disagreements, highlighting both her transparency and the modest financial footprint of a new generation of political aspirants.
