Minority leaders pay condolences to Tarique over Khaleda’s death
Leaders of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad paid a courtesy call on BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Saturday.
During the meeting, the Oikya Parishad leaders expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, describing her as an uncompromising leader and a symbol of democratic struggle in the country. They conveyed their heartfelt condolences to Tarique Rahman and his family.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was present at the meeting.
Also in attendance were Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad President Basudeb Dhar and General Secretary Santosh Sharma.
From the Oikya Parishad, Acting General Secretary Manindra Kumar Nath and Presidium Member Kajal Debnath joined the meeting.
Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, President of the Sri Sri Dhakeshwari National Temple Management Committee Chitta Ranjan Majumder, and its General Secretary DN Chatterjee were also present, along with Dr Tapas Chandra Pal, General Secretary of the Metropolitan Public Puja Committee.
The leaders recalled Begum Khaleda Zia’s role in national politics and said her passing was a great loss to the country’s democratic journey.
