There was no single leader in July revolution: Mamunul
Mamunul Haque, amir of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, has said that the July revolution enabled Bangladesh to reclaim its independence, stressing that the movement did not have any single leader.
He made the remarks on Saturday, January 24, while addressing an election rally for Shamim Saeed, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for Pirojpur-2.
Mamunul Haque further said that one of the key foundations of the unity achieved during this historic moment is love for the country. He added that their aim is to end lawlessness and the politics of violence in Bangladesh.
He warned that forces defeated during the revolution are now conspiring to undermine it. “The students and citizens who sacrificed their blood for the revolution are now seeing efforts to render it a failure. All the defeated forces have united against the July revolution,” he said.
He also criticised hypocrisy in national politics. “It is alarming when people lack the courage to openly oppose the July revolution. Some campaign publicly in favor of the referendum while secretly encouraging others not to vote. National politics should not tolerate such duplicity,” he said.
Among others, Moazzem Hossain Helal, Assistant Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Masud Saeed, Jamaat nominated candidate for Pirojpur-1, Pirojpur district amir Toffazzal Hossain Farid, Shamim Hamidi, NCP candidate of the Jamaat alliance for Pirojpur-3, and other district-level party leaders and activists, were present on the occasion.
