BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Monday urged voters in Hatiya to turn out early on election day and “settle the score of votes down to the last detail,” alleging that a rival party is attempting to disrupt the electoral process.

He made the remarks while virtually addressing an election rally at the Hatiya Dwip Government College ground in Noakhali on January 26.

Calling on voters to reach the polling centres before Fajr prayers after performing Tahajjud, Tarique emphasised the importance of safeguarding votes and ensuring a strong turnout on February 12.

Focusing on local development, he said river erosion remains the most pressing problem in Hatiya and pledged that a BNP government would take effective steps to address it.

“If we come to power, we will implement sustainable embankments and other measures to prevent river erosion,” he said, adding that block embankments would also be built to enhance and protect the area’s natural beauty.

“I have noted your problems,” Tarique told residents. “Vote for the sheaf of paddy on February 12. After the election, I will come to meet you, and we will discuss your issues together.”

He described BNP as a people-oriented party, claiming that citizens would have greater influence in governance if the party returns to power.

Addressing women voters, Tarique said mothers and sisters are key partners in national development, and promised initiatives such as family cards and health cards to improve their access to services.

Introducing BNP’s Noakhali-6 candidate, Md Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, he urged voters to support him, saying, “Vote for him, and we will take responsibility for your development, InshaAllah.”

The rally was also addressed by Md Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, former district Chhatra Dal president Kamruzzaman Hafiz, and local BNP and Juba Dal leaders.
