National Revolutionary Council (NRC) convener Khomenee Ehsan returned to Bangladesh on Monday after eight years in self-imposed exile, beginning his homecoming by visiting the graves of prominent political figures.

Ehsan arrived from Japan around noon with his family and was welcomed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by NRC leaders, activists, and members of the Revolutionary Students Council.

Following his arrival, he visited the grave of Shaheed Sharif Osman bin Hadi near the Dhaka University Central Mosque at around 3:30 pm, paying respects alongside party leaders and supporters.

Later, after Asr prayers, Ehsan attended a doa mahfil organised by the NRC at the Dhaka University Central Mosque in memory of Shaheed Begum Khaleda Zia and Shaheed Sharif Osman bin Hadi. Speaking as the chief guest, he said both figures had sacrificed their lives defending Islam, Muslim identity, and Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty.

“The faithful people of Bangladesh who stand for the country’s sovereignty will remember the sacrifices of these martyrs until the Day of Judgment,” Ehsan said, adding that justice would ultimately be served for those responsible for their deaths.

Reflecting on his return, Ehsan said he came back to unite Muslims across political lines and to advance a political vision aimed at building a strong Muslim republic. He said the NRC would promote politics rooted in Muslim nationalist ideology and called for the prayers and cooperation of the people to support this agenda.

After the doa mahfil, Ehsan and NRC leaders offered Maghrib prayers at Zia Udyan Mosque and later paid fateha at the graves of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.

Several senior NRC leaders, activists, and representatives of the Revolutionary Students Council attended the programs. NRC Assistant Member Secretary Abdus Salam said Ehsan is scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday, where he will outline his views on the current political situation in the country.
