Teen halts Tarique’s convoy with dream of power and service
On a busy road between Mymensingh and Gazipur, an unexpected pause turned into a touching political moment.
As BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman’s motorcade passed through the Seed Store area of Bhaluka on Tuesday, a teenage girl stepped forward and signalled the convoy to stop.
Her reason was not protest or spectacle, but a personal dream.
Witnesses say the girl asked for a chance to speak with Tarique.
He responded by opening the door of his campaign bus and listening closely as she shared her ambition: to enter politics, serve people, and one day become a Member of Parliament.
“I want to do politics to serve people,” she told him. “One day, I want to enter Parliament on my own merit and meet you there. Politics runs in my blood. Please pray for me.”
She explained that she had earlier seen Tarique at a rally in Mymensingh but could not approach him. Meeting him in person, she said, had been a long-held dream.
In a symbolic gesture, the teenager handed Tarique a photograph of her political inspiration, former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Tarique received it warmly, thanked her, and wished her success in her future journey.
His wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, was also present and exchanged greetings with the girl during the brief interaction.
The encounter took place as Tarique Rahman travelled from Mymensingh to Gazipur following a major rally at the Mymensingh Circuit House ground, part of the third phase of his nationwide election campaign.
What began as a routine campaign journey briefly turned into a personal story of aspiration, youth, and political hope.
