BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that some people always try to foil elections, but this time, no one will be able to stop the voting. He emphasised that the people of the country have awakened, and nothing can prevent that.

He made the remarks on Sunday (1 February) morning at a public rally held in the Kajipara area of Mohammadpur Union in Sadar Upazila, Thakurgaon-1 constituency. Addressing party activists and the general public, Mirza Fakhrul urged them to guard polling centres on election day to prevent any disturbances.

He stressed that Hindus and Muslims should be able to vote peacefully, and people should remain vigilant to ensure that no one dares to create mischief. He further said that on 12 February, everyone should stand in the field with banners bearing the symbols of Shaheed Zia and Begum Khaleda Zia—the “Sheaf of Paddy.”

During the rally, an emotional moment unfolded when the sister of Shaheed Mamun handed over her savings, kept in a mud bank, along with some eggs from her own chickens, to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul, leaving him visibly moved.
