EC expects most results by morning after polling day

The results of most constituencies will be available the following morning after voting day, Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah said on Wednesday, February 11.

He provided this information at a press briefing arranged for domestic and foreign journalists and observers on the occasion of the 13th parliamentary election and referendum scheduled for Thursday, February 12.

EC Sanaullah said the election atmosphere, except for some sporadic incidents, is the best compared to recent polls.

If anyone tries to disrupt voting, it will be easy to catch him as drones, body-worn cameras and CCTV cameras are being used in polling centres for the first time, he stated.

Mentioning that around 900 arms were recovered during 'Operation Devil Hunt', Sanaullah said, "We have taken three-tier security measures. There are no major security threats. We will effectively respond if any isolated incident happens."

Voting in the national elections and referendum will take place from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm across 299 seats on Thursday.

The election to the Sherpur-3 constituency has been postponed after the death of a candidate.
