Jamaat amir, secy gen cast votes
The Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, and Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar cast their votes in the 13th national parliamentary elections and referendum on Thursday (February 12).
Shafiqur Rahman exercised his voting rights around 8:30 am at the Manipur High School and College polling center in the capital. He was accompanied by Jamaat’s Central Executive Council member Mobarak Hossain and former president of Chhatra Shibir, Zahidul Islam.
Earlier, Mia Golam Parwar cast his vote at the West Shiromoni Government Primary School polling center in Fulthala Upazila of Khulna district around 8:00 am.
After voting, he said, “Voting is being conducted smoothly at my centre. However, it is not yet possible to assess the situation across the country.” He added, “Victory and defeat are in the will of Allah. Our responsibility is to convey our message to the people — to let them know what kind of Bangladesh we want to build. We have been trying to communicate this to the people for a long time. In the future, who will govern Bangladesh will be reflected through the people’s verdict.”
