Bobby Hajjaj, Mamunul locked in neck-and-neck battle in Dhaka-13
A fierce contest is underway between BNP’s Bobby Hajjaj and Maulana Mamunul Haque, backed by the 11-party alliance, in the Dhaka-13 constituency of the 13th National Parliamentary election.
With results from 102 out of 138 polling centres, Hajjaj, contesting under the Paddy Sheaf symbol, secured 66,140 votes, while Mamunul Haque of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, with the Rickshaw symbol, garnered 59,265.
A pre-election survey by NGO Sochhar had already predicted a tight race, showing Hajjaj slightly ahead with 42.6% support versus Mamunul’s 39.6%, while 10.4% of voters remained undecided.
Dhaka-13, covering wards 28 to 34 of Dhaka North City Corporation, primarily Mohammadpur, has 408,791 registered voters – 209,812 men, 198,971 women, and 8 third-gender voters.
