Dhaka-8: Patwari alleges manipulation at 6 polling stations

Nasiruddin Patwari, candidate of the 11-party alliance for Dhaka-8 and chief coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has lodged a complaint with the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s office, alleging manipulation of results at six polling stations.

Patwari visited the office around 7:45 pm on Thursday, February 12.

His chief election agent, Shahin Ahmed Khan, claimed that during three rounds of vote counting at the affected centres, their agents were detained and invalid votes were being added to influence the outcome. He alleged that Mirza Abbas and his supporters were pressuring officials to validate votes from Siddheshwari Boys’ High School, Motijheel Ideal College, and Eskaton Garden polling centres.

Shahin added that although results from Mahbub Ali Institute and Mirza Abbas Degree College were obtained after counting, attempts were still being made to alter them. At Paltan Family Planning Center, he alleged, BNP supporters were preventing the publication of completed results.

The complaint highlights ongoing tensions and disputes over vote counting in Dhaka-8, raising concerns about transparency and fairness.
