Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has launched the ‘Clean Dhaka, Green Dhaka’ programme. Opposition Leader and Jamaat Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman picked up a broom and began a road-cleaning drive in front of the Baitun Noor Mosque, adjacent to the main girls’ branch of Mirpur High School in Dhaka on Wednesday (February 18), after Fajr prayers.

After the programme, the Jamaat Amir told reporters, “Through state reforms, we aim to eliminate all types of waste from the country. We want to build a clean nation. If everyone cleans their own surroundings, the country will naturally become clean.”

He further added, “Without July, Tarique Rahman could not have become Prime Minister, and I could not have become the Opposition Leader. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us to implement the spirit of July in Parliament.”

Alongside the Jamaat Amir, Dhaka North City Amir Selim Uddin and leaders from various levels of Mirpur Jamaat also participated in the road-cleaning drive.
