Gold prices rise again
Gold prices have risen again in the country’s market, with the price of the highest-quality 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) increasing by Tk 2,216 to Tk 261,040. According to the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS), the hike follows a rise in the market price of pure (tejabi) gold. The new rates took effect from 10:00 am on Monday, 23 February.
The decision was made at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, and the update was later confirmed in a notice signed by the committee chairman, Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin. Earlier, on 21 February at 10:15 am, the price of a bhori of high-quality gold had been increased by Tk 3,266. Just two days later, prices have been raised again.
Under the new rates, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori has risen by Tk 2,041 to Tk 249,143, 18-carat gold by Tk 1,808 to Tk 213,568, and traditional gold by Tk 1,458 to Tk 174,785.
