Everyone will get Family Card, it’s just a matter of time: Fakhrul

Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the Family Card will be provided to everyone and will reach every household. “We have already started work in the initial phase; it’s just a matter of time,” he said.

He made the remarks on Tuesday (March 10) at the inauguration of the Family Card distribution programme at Rahimanpur Sammilita Eidgah Alim Madrasa grounds in Rahimanpur Union of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila, where he was present as the chief guest.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “Before the election, I said this would be my last election. You elected me. I will never be able to repay the debt I owe you. Therefore, I want to repay that debt by doing some work and development for you.”

He added, “The Family Card is a source of strength and power, with which you can assert yourself anywhere. This card will empower you. Men will begin to recognize your importance. On behalf of everyone, I want to thank and express gratitude to the Prime Minister for selecting our area.”

The minister stated that within 22 days of coming to power, the card has already been distributed. Agricultural loans worth Tk 10,000 have been waived. Excavation of canals will begin on March 16. Water collected during the rainy season will be preserved for use in dry periods. Every farmer will receive an Agriculture Card, enabling them to buy fertilizers, irrigation, and seeds at fair prices.

Mirza Fakhrul added, “For 15 years, there was no rule of law. We were oppressed in various ways. Previously, a card could only be obtained with money, but this time no payment is required. Do not be discouraged; everyone will receive a card. Even female DCs and SPs will get the card. How they use it is another matter. No power is greater than the power of the people.”
