The 11-party electoral alliance, led by Jamaat-e-Islami, has announced a nationwide five-day programme demanding the implementation of the referendum verdict and calling for a session of the Constitutional Reform Council.

The programme was unveiled by Maulana Mamunul Haque, Amir of the Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, at a press conference organised by the alliance at Al-Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar on Tuesday (7 April) at 12:30 pm.

Speaking at the event, he said, “From 9 April, leafleting and public outreach activities will begin, continuing across the country until 13 April. On 11 April, protest programmes will be held in all major cities, followed by district-level protests on 12 April. On 13 April, a national seminar will be held at the Engineering Institute.”

Mamunul Haque further criticised the government, accusing it of resorting to various tricks instead of implementing the referendum verdict, thereby disregarding the clear mandate of the people.

He added, “Opposition parties cannot remain silent in the face of such responsibility. We will resist the return of fascism. We will ensure the implementation of the referendum verdict by any means necessary and continue our programme in support of this demand.”

Earlier in the day, from 10:00 am, top leaders of the 11-party alliance held a meeting, demanding the implementation of the referendum verdict, solutions to the energy crisis, and the convening of a session of the Constitutional Reform Council.
