Bulbul unanimously elected BCB president, Faruk and Sakhawat VPs
Aminul Islam Bulbul has been unanimously elected as the 20th President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), with all 25 newly elected directors supporting his candidacy and no opposition put forward.
As widely expected, Bulbul faced no rival for the presidency and was formally confirmed in the role during the board’s inaugural meeting at Hotel Sonargaon Pan Pacific on Monday evening.
The appointments of the two vice-presidents were also uncontested.
Faruk Ahmed, a former BCB president, and Sakhawat Hossain, the newly elected director from the Barisal division, were both unanimously named Vice-Presidents.
Earlier reports had suggested that former national cricketer Nazmul Abedin Fahim might be appointed alongside Faruk Ahmed.
However, it emerged that Fahim showed no interest in the position, leading to Sakhawat Hossain’s selection instead.
The results were officially announced by Chief Election Commissioner Mohammad Hossain at 8:15 pm on Monday, concluding the BCB’s leadership election process.
Bulbul, a long-serving cricket administrator and former team manager, now takes the helm of the board at a critical juncture for Bangladeshi cricket, with major domestic reforms and international fixtures on the agenda.
