Asif Nazrul to meet World Cup squad today over India travel issue

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made it clear that Bangladesh must travel to India to participate in the T20 World Cup. The ICC has given Bangladesh one day to confirm whether it will go.

Before taking a final decision on the matter, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul has called an emergency meeting on Thursday (22 January). He will meet the cricketers selected for the World Cup squad at Hotel InterContinental in the capital at 3:00 pm.

Following threats from extremists, pacer Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the Indian Premier League (IPL). Subsequently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), on government instructions, decided not to send the team to India for the World Cup. The board later held two rounds of meetings with the ICC—both online and in person—over the issue.

Earlier on Tuesday (20 January), Asif Nazrul said Bangladesh would not accept any unreasonable conditions imposed by the ICC under pressure from India.
