Nazmul reinstated as BCB’s finance committee chairman

M Nazmul Islam has regained his position as the Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Nazmul confirmed on Sunday that he was formally reinstated at the BCB meeting held the previous day. He said, “Discussions had been going on for a few days. Then yesterday, I was formally given back my position.”

Earlier this month, Nazmul came under fire from cricketers for calling Tamim Iqbal an “Indian agent” over the World Cup issue. He also faced criticism for several other controversial remarks, including comments about spending money on players and saying he would not ask for it back. Following demands from the cricketers’ organization, the BCB removed him from the position of Finance Committee Chairman and issued a show-cause notice within 48 hours.

According to BCB Media Committee Chairman Amzad Hussain, the board was satisfied with Nazmul’s response. He said, “The matter for which a response was sought from M Nazmul Islam, meaning the board’s show-cause notice, he has sent his reply to the disciplinary department. Apparently, the BCB disciplinary department issued a statement that his response was satisfactory.”
