Bangladesh women to play first bilateral series in Australia
The Bangladesh women’s cricket team is set to play its first-ever bilateral series in Australia, marking a significant milestone in the side’s international journey.
The tour, scheduled for October this year, is part of the ICC Women’s Future Tours Programme (FTP).
Under the leadership of Nigar Sultana Joty, Bangladesh will face the hosts in a six-match series comprising three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals.
The ODI series will be held at Allan Border Field in Brisbane on October 9, 11, and 14, with all matches scheduled as day-night fixtures under the ICC Women’s Championship. Following the ODI leg, both teams will travel to Sydney for the T20 series at North Sydney Oval on October 18, 20, and 22, starting at 7:15 pm local time.
Although Bangladesh previously toured Australia for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, this will be their first bilateral series on Australian soil.
Historically, Bangladesh has struggled against Australia, remaining winless in 10 international encounters. The team lost all four matches during the 2020 World Cup and failed to secure a victory in a six-match home series two years ago.
