Expats send $2.97b remittances in May
The expatriate Bangladeshis sent around $2.97 billion (about BDT 36,234 crore) in remittances in May, the second highest in a single month in the country’s history.
The amount is about $41.50 crore more than that of May last year, a source in the Bangladesh Bank said on Sunday, June.
Bangladesh received around $2,750 crore in remittances in the first 11 months (July-May) of current 2024-25 fiscal year. In the same period of FY 2023-24, the Bangladeshi expatriates sent about $2,137 crore.
The overall remittance inflow grew by around $6.13 billion or $613 crore this fiscal year.
