Shwapno's customer data leaked; hackers seek $1.5m ransom
Popular retail chain Shwapno's customer data has been leaked online, and the hackers are demanding a $1.5 million ransom.
The leaked data, which includes customers' mobile numbers, names, and purchase information, has now surfaced on Facebook and various websites, including the dark web.
It is initially learned that the purchase information of April and May last year had been leaked.
Shwapno has initiated to file a case in this connection; however, customers blamed the retail chain and are demanding compensation.
Asked Shwapno's managing director, Sabbir Hasan Nasir, on Saturday night, March 28, he told Jago News they have no specific record of when the leak had happened. "But what we know is that a few international hacker groups contacted us in August 2025 and demanded $1.5 million. They told us that they will destroy the stolen data if we pay them."
"We did not make any compromise with them as it is a criminal gang; instead, we took steps to protect the database system," he said.
"ACI Group's MIS team updated and strengthened our server's firewall and antivirus. They assure us that the system is now completely secure," he added.
