66.64% pass in HSC, equivalent exams

A total of 66.64% students have passed in this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations across Bangladesh.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid along with the chairmen of all the education boards handed over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban around 10am on Thursday.

The overall success rate was dropped by 2.27 percentage points while the number of GPA-5 achievers fell by 8,464.

Last year, the overall pass rate was 68.91 percent and the number of students having achieved the highest grade registered at 37,969.

The education minister will formally announce the results at a press briefing at his office around 1:00pm.

A total of 13,11,457 examinees from 8,864 educational institutions took part in the examinations this year. Of them, 6, 35,697 are male and 5,47,989 female.

The HSC and its equivalent examinations under ten education boards began on April 2 this year. Theoretical examinations ended on May 13 while practical tests were held from May 14 to May 23.
