A group of teachers and employees are observing a sit-in in front of the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka for the second day on Thursday, February 13, demanding the nationalisation of the non-government educational institutions under the MPO (Monthly Payment Order) scheme.

They are also seeking house rent, medical allowance and 100 per cent festival allowance for them as per government rules.

Several hundred of teachers and employees started the sit-in on Wednesday, February 12. They resumed it this morning and were seen in front of the Jatiya Press Club while filing of the report around 3:00pm.

Principal Delwar Hossain Azizi, one of the protesting teachers, said they will continue their movement until their demands are not met.

He also urged 5 lakh teachers and staff of MPO-listed private educational institutions to joint the programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club.
