Unsuccessful SSC examinees demand college admission, rateke

A group of students who failed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations have staged a demonstration in front of the Dhaka Education Board demanding their college admission and retake.

They rallied in front of the board on Thursday afternoon, July 17, and placed a four-point demand.

The demands are removing discrimination in making question papers; allowing failed students retaking exams; making arrangement of pass in both MCQ and CQ parts; and ensuring college admission of unsuccessful students.

The protesting students said only reformation to SSC results without reforming everything of educational activities caused failure of a large of number of students this year, leaving them to an uncertainty.

Asked about this, Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee president and Dhaka Education Board chairman Prof Khandekar Ehsanul Kabir said there is a question about rationality of the students’ demands. “Despite this, we will inform the Ministry of Education about the demands.”
