Eight examiners face permanent ban for student involvement in evaluation

Eight examiners have been permanently banned from all public examination duties and face departmental action for gross misconduct during the evaluation of OMR answer sheets in the 2025 SSC and HSC examinations.

The decision was announced in a formal notification issued on Saturday, July 26, signed by Professor Dr Khandokar Ehsanul Kabir, chairman of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board.

The suspension follows a serious violation of exam protocols: the accused examiners allowed or instructed students to fill in OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) answer sheets themselves – a direct breach of examination rules designed to ensure fairness and prevent malpractice.

Photographs and videos showing students marking OMR sheets circulated widely on social media, drawing public outrage and prompting immediate investigation by board authorities.

After a formal inquiry, all eight examiners were issued show-cause notices.

In their responses, they admitted their actions, expressed regret, and apologised.

The board’s investigation confirmed the allegations, leading to the harshest possible penalty: lifetime disqualification from participating in any public examination activitiesunder the Dhaka Education Board.

Suspended examiners are Mohsin Alamin, higher mathematics teacher at St Joseph High School & College, Savar; Md Sakhawat Hossain Akon, Islamic & moral education teacher at Jatrabari Ideal School & College; Abu Bakar Siddique, assistant principal at Munshinagar High School, Nawabganj, Dhaka; Md. Alexander Mia, a mathematics teacher at Sulla Abbasia High School in Basail, Tangail, Madhuchhanda Lipi, Bengali teacher at Baroicha College, Belabo, Narsingdi; Murchhana Akhter, English teacher at Rokeya Ahsan College, Demra; Md Zakir Hossain,  Bengali lecturer at Haji Yunus Ali College, Savar; and Md Rakibul Hasan, Bengali lecturer at Bhasha Shaheed Abdul Jabbar Ansar VDP School & College, Kaliakoir, Gazipur.

The notice also directed the respective education authorities to initiate departmental disciplinary proceedings against the individuals for professional misconduct.

The Dhaka Education Board emphasised that such violations undermine the credibility of the national examination system and compromise the future of honest students.
