Holy Cross to celebrate platinum jubilee on Jan 8-10, registrations on
One of Bangladesh’s most iconic institutions for girls’ education, Holy Cross Girls’ High School & College, is all set to turn 75 on January 1, 2026.
To celebrate this historic milestone, the school is hosting a grand three-day Platinum Jubilee Festival from January 8-10, 2026 on its Tejgaon campus, and it promises to be nothing short of spectacular.
From two little girls to a legacy of thousands
It all began in 1951, responding to the urgent needs of a newly independent nation hungry for education. Sister Augustine Marie, the visionary founder and first Headmistress, arrived with just three other Holy Cross Sisters and opened a tiny English-medium kindergarten with only two students.
By November of the same year, it grew into a primary school up to Class 3. In 1955 the school already had 133 boys and 133 girls. That year, Class 4 was added exclusively for girls, and Sister Carmen Davy became Headmistress of the Primary Section.
Step by step, the institution focused on empowering women: admission for boys in regular sessions was closed, and by 1979 Holy Cross officially became a full-fledged girls’ high school.
Today, 75 years later, it proudly educates 1,600 young women and remains a beacon of excellence across generations.
Imagine walking back through the same gates you once crossed as a wide-eyed schoolgirl, now joined by thousands of sisters across generations, legendary performers, and even a national film icon.
This isn’t just a reunion; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of legacy, talent, and unbreakable bonds.
What’s happening over the three magical days?
January 8 (Day 1): The festival opens with dazzling performances by current students, followed by a high-energy concert featuring two of Bangladesh’s most popular bands.
January 9 (Day 2): World-renowned dancer Shibli Muhammad and Shamim Ara Nipa will grace the stage. Current students return with another cultural showcase, while past and present Holy Crossians unite for a breathtaking dance-drama presentation of Rabindranath Tagore’s Chitrangada.
January 10 (Closing Day): The grand finale will see living legend and Holy Cross alumnus, film superstar Alamgir, take the stage! Joining him are celebrated Holy Cross alumnae including musicians Nasheed Kamal, Iffat Ara Dewan, Rumana Rashid Ishita, actress Tasnia Farin, singer Sushmita Suchi, dancer Rachel Priyanka, and many more luminaries. The night ends with an electrifying concert by Pritam Hasan.
Senior teacher Roselyn Sara beams with excitement: “We have planned something truly magical. When past and present students come together under one sky, sharing memories and watching these extraordinary performances, the 75th anniversary will become an unforgettable celebration.”
