Shaon faces arrest warrant in stepmother’s case

A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against actress and director Meher Afroz Shaon and several others in a case filed her stepmother, Nishi Islam.

Former Detective Branch (DB) chief Harun Or Rashid and Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s CTTC unit’s former ADC Nazmul are among others against whom the warrant was issued.

Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Salaullah passed the order on Tuesday, April 22, sources in the court said on Wednesday, April 23.

The plaintiff, Nishi Islam, filed the case against 12 individuals in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on March 13 on charge of attempted murder.

Other accused are Shaon’s father and the plaintiff’s husband engineer Md Ali, her sisters Mahin Afroz Shinjan and Senjuti, Shinjan’s husband Sabbir, ADC Nazmul Subrata Das, Mainul Hossain, former DB chief Harun Or Rashid, police inspector Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, deputy inspector Shah Alam and Md Ali’s nephew Mokhlesur Rahman Milton.
