Uzma Khanum, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, confirmed on Tuesday that her brother is “perfectly fine” following a rare visit to Adiala Jail, where the former prime minister has been incarcerated.

Her statement sought to dispel mounting speculation about his health amid a weeks-long ban on visits from family and party leaders.

Uzma was permitted to meet Imran Khan earlier on the day – a development that drew scores of PTI supporters to gather outside the prison.

Speaking briefly to the media after their 30-minute meeting, she said, “Imran Khan’s health is perfectly fine. However, he was very angry and said that they are subjecting him to mental torture.”

She added that her brother has been confined to his cell for most of the day with minimal outdoor time and no communication with the outside world.

The visit followed widespread protests by PTI activists outside both Adiala Jail and the Islamabad High Court, demanding the restoration of visitation rights.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, neither Imran Khan nor his wife, Bushra Bibi – also imprisoned in Adiala – had been allowed any visitors since October 27.

The PTI has repeatedly alleged that the restrictions amount to political victimisation.

In anticipation of the demonstrations, authorities imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi, banning public assemblies of four or more people.

Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry affirmed earlier today that the government would strictly enforce the order.

The rare family visit comes at a tense political juncture, as PTI continues to challenge what it describes as systemic efforts to silence its leadership.
