March sees highest remittances of $3.75b
The expatriate Bangladeshis have, so far, sent the highest remittances of around $3.75 billion, or approximately $375.50 crore, in March of the current fiscal year 2025-26.
The amount is $46 crore higher than the same period in FY 2024-25, when the country received $3.29 billion, or around $329.56 crore, in remittances, according to updated data from Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday, April 1.
Remittances through state-owned banks are accounted for $64 crore, while private banks received $264 crore, two specialised banks $46.47 crore and foreign banks $1 crore.
Bankers said the inward remittance flow increases every year around Ramadan and Eid. Additionally, expatriates might have sent their saved money due to tensions in the Middle East.
