Tribute to Syed Haq at Shaheed Minar

Thousands of people including, members of different social, cultural and political groups paid rich tributes to ambidextrous writer Syed Shamsul Haq at Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Wednesday morning, who passed away at a Dhaka hospital on Tuesday evening.

His body was taken to the Shaheed Minar around 11am where people from all walks of life gathered to pay their homage to the poet.

President Abdul Hamid paid his respect to versatile writer Syed Shamsul Haq.

Shamsul’s body was kept till 1pm so that common people and different organisations can cast their respects.

Earlier, his first janaza was held on Channel i premises in Tejgaon around 10:15am in which the private TV channel’s journalists and the poet’s family members as well as scores of people from the cultural sector joined.

Shamsul Haq died at United Hospital in the city on Tuesday evening at the age of 81.
